Yo Again--an FYI re:300 starters--there are at least 2 different versions of the starter motor for the 300 series, and this prob'ly will apply to all the models listed in my shop manual-300,350,400 come to mind quickly. I got the replacement starter from these guys within 2 days of ordering it! Fsntastic service. It was listed as the exact replacement for my grenaded one; numbers matched, looked exactly the same, so I went to throw it in & git back to original problem. 3 hours later I finally decided to side-by-side compare old to new. Had to first cob old back to one piece, which was a trick cuz the guts are rrrreeeaaalllllyyyy destroyed, but I got it together.New one is about 1" shorter than old!!! Puts the selenoid directly in conflict with steering arm!! Called the customer service guys here, and a fellow named Darick(sp?)went way out of his way to research it for me. Conclusion was that there are 2 different versions of this starter under the same part number!! As I've stated before, I am NOT real good with computer communication, so, I decided not to waste a bunch of who knows how many people's time and opted to remote mount the selenoid under the dash right behind the battery. Had to git a cable made to run to the starter, but it worked out fine. Better,actually--I never liked how little clearance there was in original version. So, my advise to anyone dealing with starter replacement: figure out some way to make sure yer getting the right one! Don't know how, but, you can count on these folks to really help. Carb is next---can't wait!! Over&Out---
