Scott, you said something about a 560 you were thinking of putting a 4 cylinder. Would that be an M-450 engine? or something more'exotic',like a 4B Cummins? Sounds like a cool project. BTW,my 'boss' is talking about putting a 6V71 Detroit in a 4020 powershift. That would be a real 'screamer'...LOL

Back in the late 1960's and early & mid-1970's there were several guys running 8V-71 and 6V-71 powered 4020's all over eastern Iowa and north-western Illinois at local tractor pulls. Think Jon Kinzenbauw had a hand in most of the engine swaps.

I've seen a couple 560's with an IH Nuess D310 or D358 nicely swapped in. Think I would drop a D-312 or D360 Melrose engine in now though. I really REALLY like the Nuess engines but it's an older design, some parts are getting hard to find, the Melrose 300-series still has decent parts support.

DeltaRed I am going to put a super m engine in it.I should not be to much trouble.I will have to shorten fuel tank portion that is over 560 engine and move back one inch.Thottle linkage, fan shroud should not be a problem.I have lots of starters to in my stash as the 560 gas flywheel is different.I wish I had a 4bt but the way I use my tractor I probably would be tempted to plow with it and tear up the rear end.It would be fun though.I had 6v53t that I bought from the coop that came out of three wheel fertilizer truck.A fella kept stacking up the cash and I finally sold it to him.I was going to put it in a 706 but I came across a 407 engine flywheel to fan and put that in it.John Kinzenbaw in Iowa built some detroit conversions.I saw a 4320 with detroit once at and auction but that was not a Kinze repower.I saw and 806 at and estate sale that the fella put a cat engine once.He had lots of red power there M diesels,W9s,650 diesels all the way up threw 06,56,66,series and a few 86 series tractors.Wenger was his last name I whish I knew him before his passing.Scott

Id love to see how this works out, I've always wondered if anyone put a super M-450 engine in a 460-560 and how much work it is.

Povertyknob I am going do this project in the spring as I have alot in the shop right now.Where are you located If you are not to far away you can come look at it when it is finished.Scott
