I tighten down good. Warm up and retighten. I do not torque, just start from center and work out. always worked for me.

Start from the center, work side to side, front to back, alternateing. IIrC,105 ft pounds. I like to tighten in 3 stages.

For what it's worth, years back a guy I knew pulled a fairly warmed up D 17 Allis diesel. He had head gasket trouble and he told me that every time he blew one he tightened the next one a tad more than last time. He said his dealership told him to tighten the head bolts, (nuts?), to spec in 3 stages and use the pattern suggested in his IT book. He told me the problem went away after he did this. gm

MANIFOLD BOLTS... are 3/8 bolts so the torque would be 40-45 ft. lbs for a grade 8 bolt.

Don't do 105 lbs., 45 would be closer, start in the center and work out both ways.

i know the diesel has 3/8 bolts on the intake and exhuast manifold. i did not go look at my 560 gas.
