i a gonna need to replace some steering wheels on some of the heard. what are some ideas on how to do this. i am working on the 300 this weekend and when in pulled the worm shaft out of the bolster, well the bearing , what was left, did not need to help coming off.

second, why are the head lights for the flat back head lights so expensive...$35-55 seams a little much

I just remove the nut and hit the backside with a run beer mallet. Keep rotating it and soon enough it should pop off

The headlights are pricey because they are unique to only a few years of IH tractors. No need for mass-producing them because they have no other applications.

I've done 3 small Farmalls from the 40's over the past couple of years and none would budge without cutting them off. I cut a slot along the area that goes over the shaft as far as I dared and then split what
was left with a chisel. Mine were all in bad shape was the reason to remove them for replacement. Obviously if you have a good steering wheel worth saving then this doesn't work.

Never had to split s steering wheel yet , A bearing splitter and a ten ton puller makes things happen . If at first the three ton does not get th results wanted then the big boy comes out .

I removed the steering wheel on my 140 by using a steering wheel puller from Harbor Freight.
I needed to remove the wheel so I could disassemble the steering box to replace a broken key.

If you'r going to use a puller, you have to center the shaft, and drill out a little metal, so the puller can center it self, or else it's going to walk on you !

Maintenance guy at my last employer asked me if I wanted a couple FREE sealed beams from the emergency
power outage lights they were replacing. Turned out I got three free lights. I checked the local
hardware store and Blain's Farm & Fleet and they had them for $7 to $11 each.

If somebody was trying to sell them for $30-$35 each they could keep them!
