560 TA question

I need to replace the pressure plate on my TA in my 560. Glancing over the service manual - it talks about using a spanner wrench for a nut on the saft to get the pressure plate off.

I'm sure it'll make more sense when I get the tractor split and can see things - but I'm wondering if I need any special tools to do this job?

Is a specific spanner wrench needed? or will there be an obvious work around that once I get into it? I've never been into one of these.

Clocks starting to tick on the project, I need the tractor very soon.

Thanks.

There is a locking tab washer that needs the tab straightened to allow the nut to turn and you can also use a punch and hammer to turn the nut.

Like Kevin says. But the nut holds the ta fly wheel. You won't have to remove it to change the pressure plate and disc.

No just split the tractor pull the clutch shaft out remove the IDPTo shaft , remove the T/A release bearing and shaft and then all ya need isa 7/16 socket or a box wrench . So while your there ya may as well install a new main clutch and have the flywheel refaced and step cut and all new bearing and seals . only time the T/A flywheel needs to come off is when your going in after the T.A and this is when the special socket comes in handy as it not only will remove the spanner nut but it also bends the safety tabs out all at the same time . You line up the tab's to the slots and with the aid of a long extension and a BMFH one good solid rap and the tabs are out of the slots then you can remove the nut , when reinstalling you can get the nut tighter then with a long drift punch and does not mess up the nut as i have seen many nuts scrapped out from using the drift punch . Yes i use top use the PUNCH before i got the tool . It took a lot of miles and lots of sales to get one to add to my I H specialty tool collection . That and the seal protection sleeve . Helps working on stuff when one has the TOYS to play with.
