Unthawing the hand crank shaft on an H

Anybody have any success doing that? Mines a 48, and I don't know how many decades its been froze up.
 
It might take a foundry or volcano to get enough heat in the casting to unstick that....its a sure sign the tractor was never hand started! Same problem on my SMTA....
 
I agree with posting below. I had the front pedistal off my SMTA at one time and looked at freeing up the crank mechanism. I decided I really never wanted to hand crank it anyway!!!

I think you guys just helped me to decide how hard I was going to work on my seized H crank. Starts real well, I was curious how easy it would start by crank. I might still have to wonder.
 

It took months of spraying with penetrant, hitting it with a hammer a couple of times a day and finally I got it freed up. Very frustrating but it can be done.
 
Well, I still crank up my 40 B and my granddads 34 CC Case, sooo Whats one more, IF I NEED TO.
 
Randy Hall -- Your comment reminds me of the ladies at work who used to ask me to "unloosen" something for them. I would ask them if they really did want me to tighten it more?
