3400? at auction

Looking at what appears to be a International 3400 industrial tractor at auction tomorrow. 4 cylinder diesel engine self leveling loader and 3 pt hitch. Cranks easily. Loader works great goes forward in a all gears great but reverse is very slow like something is slipping. After it heats up it will not pull in reverse. My question is would this be a simple fix or very involved? I don't know how the forward / reverse works on the tractor. Would this be something worth bringing home?

As the song goes all it takes is money. Anything can run. I would guess the reverse is on a shuttle. Which would probably be a hydraulic arrangement. So could be as easy as just a filter, to a complete overhaul of the hydraulics to fix.

And beyond the hydraulic system it could be the seals or clutches in the gear train which to repair would require a split.

Thanks for the input, exactly what I was thinking. I've already got too many projects going on to start another.
