52 Farmall oil leak

I am getting oil leaking from right above the front edge of the oil pan.
Does this sound like the front seal is gone and needs replacing ?

On my 53 SA the crank nose/seal is worn so badly it drips about every 10 feet when running the mower. Lots of oil into the aquifer over time. So far not in the budget to tear the thing down and refresh it all properly. I landed on the solution of bending a ~24" square drip pan, welding the corners, adding a drain plug, and it collects the "overflow" which I drain each time before mowing.

Do you know if the front seal is a big job?
 
It's possible that the seal has worn a groove in the shaft and you may need to install a speedy sleeve on the shaft to get the leak stopped. The seal and sleeve can be purchased
as a set.
