Any B owners here? Brake shaft/pedel question

The left side brake pedal goes to a shaft that goes across and below the trans case through a tube, and its nearly froze up. I, when I use it and push down, have to put my show behind the pedal to pull it back up. Used a stronger spring but to no good. Its a 40 B

It should work freely of course. Disconnect the cross shaft from the actual brake rod and see which part is the problem

I have the same problem on my BA. One needs to lube up any and all pivot points and places the shaft passes threw and even then it can take working them a lot to free them up

I had the same problem with my B. I had a leaky differential seal that coated the brake band with oil. When I replaced that seal and brake band I took the whole pedal assembly apart as well and noticed the cross shaft was rusted solid to the left pedal. I replaced that shaft and oiled it up. The combination of new differential seal, new brake band, and new brake shaft solved my brake sticking problem.

I have a neighbor with a BN that had the same problem with his left pedal, and when he was reassembling the pedals he created a grease zerk to be able to grease that brake shaft to keep it free. Thought that was a pretty neat way to keep the shaft lubed up.
