Farmall M band brakes

Am I the only one having a hard time adjusting the brakes so that the drums don?t scrub against the bands? I have the tractor jacked up with both rear tires of the ground and the scrubbing isn?t bad but it seems no matter how I adjust they won?t not scrub

dont know what u mean by scrubbing, but the bands will always rub on the drum as that is the way it is. when you step on the pedal the lining wraps its self into the rotation of the drum . no such thing as the lining not touching the drum. its not like automotive drums where the linings are retracted with springs.

The little bolt under the sheet metal cover is an anti drag setscrew. When adjusted, it holds the band upward from the bottom to support its weight and let the top (maybe) not touch the top of the drum. It is adjusted by tightening it till it causes the band to drag enough to feel, then loosening till it just doesn't rub. Casual rubbing is going to happen. Rest assured, that beake is way better than the disk brakes that replaced it. Jim
