steep hillside

someone is mowing a steep hillside, near me. i looked at it and i would not want to let him get off of the tractor and me get on, for fear that it would turn over. he uses four wheel drive tractor. i will try to get more detail.

another area, center hill dam embankment is mowed by someone. it is also very steep , but, smooth.

Most people do not truly understand the capability of their tractor and/or the grade of the slope. I've seen people panic that their tractor is going to tip over on land that is barely out of level, and I've seen people who think they can safely drive across a 60 degree slope with a narrow front row crop tractor set for 28" rows.

Not sure what your point is, or if you're asking if you should intervene, but if the person has been successfully mowing that slope for some time, my recommendation would be MYOB. Your "advice" will probably not be well received, and if the person is a friend, there is a good chance they won't be by the end of the conversation.

not intervening at all. i am amazed at how steep of a slope that a farm tractor is capable of mowing. of course, folks should be trained to do this. i have not measured the degree of this slope. perhaps i will do that.

i am sure that this man, is getting paid very well for his efforts. my name is not on the list to follow him, should he quit.

Here in Okla, I been told several times that Okies were afraid to use row crop tractors for fear of tipping over on steep hills. What the ? There ARE NO steel hills in this part of Okla. NE. I wish I could show them the steepness of the hills that that are farmed around Wathena Kansas. That's NE to the Max.

i am amazed at how steep the grade is and that a machine can stay on it. i have heard that this man is the only one so far, that has not turned a tractor over on this site.
