Strange problem

I recently determined that that the front seal of the live hydraulic pump was leaking. I put a pan under the top pet cock and opened it. I caught over a quart of oil (probably with some hyd. fluid mixed in. I decided to replace the pump with a good used one. I also changed the engine oil. I have used the tractor--ran my 8' 3-pt. shredder for about an hour. I have since been checking the top pet cock for oil and each time, oil comes out. Do I have the same problem with this used pump? Or am I worrying unnecessarily.

you didn't mentioin the tractor you are dealing with. If it is an M and you are talking about the top petcock on the oil pan then it would seem you are still making oil somewhere. I believe the oil level should be up to the top petcock but there shouldn't be a lot of oil coming out of it.

Bleed that top petcock again. If more oil comes out than the oil change would allow, it is still leaking. The seal can be replaced (could be an Oring) take pictures as you go. set the #1 cylinder at compression TDC. Jim
