I just acquired this tractor from my father. It hasn't run since 1995. I don't have a large budget, just want to get her running. I pulled the gas tank and zenith carb. Looking for recommondations to clean the varnish out of the gas tank. The carb is really bad shape, looks like someone rebuilt it and didn't use the proper parts. My question is this. I see knock off cheap carbs on ebay, would one of these work? If anyone has suggestions on how I should proceed in bringing her back, I would be grateful. thanks in advance!

Gasoline works to clean out the tank, especially with ethanol.

Buying a new carb doesn't get you out of adjusting it for proper running, which is the main reason most people think buying a new carb is better. If at all possible, get the correct kit and overhaul the original carb.

Simplest way to clean your tank is go buy a few gallons of E85
gasoline. Wow does that stuff eat up the crud in your tank. Keep in
away from rubber and paint. It will eat that up too. I have cleaned
several gas tanks, and several old kerosene lamps with E85.
