I have a 300 that needs a new clutch and pressure plate. The splines are just about worn off the shaft. In looking at the manual and matching the letters on the tractor plate it is a Rockford clutch. Does it matter if I replace it with an IH one?

The IH clutch is a Rockford style. The name is Kinda like Kleenex. A name that has become the type. DO it, or buy one here from YT parts! Jim

If the splines are wore,it's usually the pto drive shaft that splines into the rear of the pressure plate. That shaft is not very difficult to replace. Usually I replace it when doing a clutch job. Mark.

Not sure how it was back in the 1950's but in the late 1970's and '80's Rockford Clutches were made by the Rockford Clutch Division of Borg-Warner, in Rockford, Illinois.
