F-30/20 towing?

Haul my 30's on a deck over trailer but was thinking , has anybody modified a regular equipment trailer and widen the deck behind the fenders
to load a F-20 or 30? Maybe a dumb question but getting a little nervous in my old age loading .

It could be done. However it probably put too much weight behind the axles.Resulting in poor, erratic towing. if you loaded another tractor on first(to counter balance) in front,it would work. If you're gonna haul one use a deckover.

I have hauled an F-20 like that. Input a concrete counter weight on the front weighing about 1300 lbs. seemed to pull fine, I only went twenty five miles though.

The way I made my deckover GN loading a lot more palatable was to back the trailer down in the ditch at the front of my yard (cul-de-sac to assist) with the truck tires still on the concrete.

Lower the ramps and everything gets nice and flat.

On the farm they had a grassy hill, man-made for doing similar type stuff.

Yes, too much weight behind the axles to tow stable at high speeds. If you put a bunch of heavy stuff on the front of the trailer, that would fix the issue but unless it's stuff to go along with the tractor, you're just wasting fuel dragging it around.

Some manufacturers make trailers with "drive-on" or "drive-over" fenders. The fenders are reinforced so you can drive directly on them when loading and unloading.

Two such manufacturers are PJ, with their buggy hauler and "superwide" trailers, and Load Trail. Load Trail doesn't show them on their website but the local dealer regularly stocks them.

I modified a swather trailer to haul the wide ones, but we are 12' wide easily so
we have to stay off the major roads. This was a Hesston swather trailer with inner and outer fixed
spindles, I made it a walking beam setup.
The picture with the 91 combine shows it before I made it a walking beam, that setup didn't work well on crowned roads at all.

Did the similar thing with an F-20 I had. With some heavy timbers, made a platform aft of the fenders for the rear wheels to sit on, up close to the fenders. Counter weighted the front with about 900# of anchor chain.

Brought it home 200 miles, and a few years later, delivered it to the new buyer 800 miles away. Worked fine.
