I just was looking at my valves and rockers. Are this rocker tips worn? I am assuming they are but needed to ask. Also, what are they called and can they be replaced? They look to be screwed or pressed in. Thanks!

Sorry picture didnt attach the first time...

Are there reference pictures or dimentional drawings that can be used? I would guess that they have some what of an angle do to the arch they travel in. I am wondering if they are convex on purpose or not. It is hard to put a feeler gauge in when they are like this.

Sorry again, I meant concave.

Yes, they are concave so they slide/rock easily on the valve tip as the rocker moves though it's arc of travel.I doubt there's any official OEM "specs" or drawings that were made public "back in their day".

Some valve grinding machines have an attachment that facilitates grinding them, and I understand that some companies that regrind cams will do the rocker arms, as well.

For more info, GOOGLE "grinding rocker arm tips".

Those are worn some, there are much worse than those. Why are they so dry? If the cover has just
been removed, those should be wet with oil.
Using a narrow feeler gauge to set them works when they are worn some.
Convex is rounded (like a speed bump) Concave is like a ditch. Rocker tips should be convex where
they touch the valve stem, and that shape should be like the one shown in here. Jim

The picture is just after I spent an hour cleaning sludge. They got a perfectly wet after. Good eye.

Sald ,

I have reground them if they are not real bad, if real bad I have

fusible spray weld to repair them . What I use is tool steel hardness.

If you don't find someone local , put them in a box and I'll fix them.

I appreciate the offer. I want to see if I can find a reference to what they look like new.
