460 Clutch Adjustment

I have a 460 that I believe needs a clutch adjustment. Just noticed last night that when I shifted into 5th gear. The TA was in the hi position. I have not noticed this before. It has a new clutch and TA about 6 years ago. The tractor mostly sits or pulls wagons. What could the issue be and how do I properly adjust it? Thank you!

The clutch or the TA on the hi side slipped, and gradually gained speed. I went out a bit ago and held the left break while letting out the clutch in third gear. The tractor did not move although the engine bogged down with the TA on the hi side. Tried the same with the TA on the low side and there was no slippage. Hope this is an adjustment and nothing major. Thank you.

The clutch pedal needs to have an inch and a quarter of free play before it gets hard to push farther. Jim

not sure what u mean by hi position. when the TA is in the ahead position it is in direct drive. when pulled back its in what u what you could say under drive. this is to get more torque by reducing tractor speed. the manual has an easy to follow adjustment procedure. it my never have been adjusted properly when the clutch was replaced. the purpose of freeplay is to prevent the fingers from rubbing on the release brg. and wearing them out and also casing clutch slippage. under high rpm the fingers actually move closer to the release brg.from centrifugal force.

I adjusted and checked the clutch and ta per to link from tractor vet. It works as it should now. It was all out of adjustment. I appreciate your and
all the help from others who offered advice. Thank you.
