this tractor has a busted block.. not sure if anti freeze was put in last year. A local junk yard has offered $500. Is this a fair deal?
My brother used it for 10 years and always was a good running tractor. As you can see almost new tires.

why junk it? if not too bad it can be patched. A little swelling/cracking on the outside can be epoxyed. My uncles M was froze 40 years ago and epoxyed. It is still running today.Or just put a replacemrnt engine,or block. Lots of those small 4 cyl IH engines that will fit.If it's been a good tractor and you still have a use for it. Fix it. The repair will be cheaper than buying an unknown tractor.

I thought about that. My brother drained over five gallons of of water and oil . Odd he has used it all summer and a month ago it wouldn't start. thats when he drained and it has not started since. I used some sealer of some sort on my 82 chevy pick up and it seems to have sealed.

I have a complete engine I would sell him if he wants to keep it

They only made like, a bazillion, tractors with engines that will fit. Best options are Super A, C, Super C because they are the most plentiful. Install the governor from the 140 and you won't notice any difference.

$500 is not a "fair" offer but it's what he's going to get. Scrapyards don't pay "fair" money for everything, or else they would not make a profit.

If it's a salvage yard, they will get $500 for the tires, and bring in another $1000+ on parts, or they could put an engine in it for basically free and ask $3500 for it.

Where are you located and what do you want for the engine

Hey Charlie:Have you tried the salvage yard around Shelbyville KY? Don't remember the name of it right now but they have several acres of tractors and implements. Pembroke
