Farmall B steering box question

When the shaft (worm gear shaft in the gear box) is put back into the gear box thru the front (where the big cap is) do the wheels on the tractor need to be turned a certain direction? I put mine back together with the wheels straight and now the worm gear shaft (that connects to the u-joint for steering) seems like it is sticking too far thru the box now because my steering wheel moved back (towards driver). So I was just thinking maybe the wheel needed to be turned a different way when the worm gear shaft is put back into the box. It turns thru the full range of motion but the steering wheel did not sit this far back before I did this (about an inch or so). I resealed the boltser/gear box is the reason I took this all apart but now I have this to contend with! Thanks

No parts missing. Took lots of pictures taking it apart and nothing left over when assembled. Just not sure on that darn shaft and if if needs to be slid & screwed in while the wheels are turned one way or the other. Guess all I can do is take the shaft out and crank wheels one way or the other and then install the shaft and see what happens.

Sounds like parts missing? Maybe the bearing?
