Burnt up an entire set of drill bits and really tested my Craftsman 1/2" ratchet, but I got that %$#@ boogered up rim clamp bolt out of my H yesterday. It's been like that for a long time, but lately it has been really annoying me, so glad it's out. Paint damage is minimal. A little JB weld to cover up where I nicked the cast with the cutoff wheel, and a spritz with a spray bomb, and it will be good as new.

Next challenge is to find the clamp Dad bought for it. I think I know where it is, but it's going to involve a lot of digging...

Now to go back in, should I use a Grade 5 bolt? Parts book only calls for 5/8-11 x 4-1/4. No grade mentioned. Ordering from Mcmaster.

A grd 5 should be good enough. Think you are replacing an IH Dot head bolt in those rims, they for sure
were more than a grade #2.
