I have installed a PETRONIX Electronic Ignition on My 1975 I/H CUB. I have a NEW Key Switch, Spark Plugs, Coil, Rotor Button, Distributor Cap, Wires, and Battery Installed. NO SPARK. I Connected Battery (POSITIVE) Direct to COIL. NO SPARK. ( I Tested Spark Plugs with TEST LIGHT) This is a NEGATIVE GROUND System. Need ASSISTANCE. THANKS In Advance for Your time !

From what I understand that company has a phone number you can call for help. That said I have removed more then one electronic ignition and put back in points because of how much trouble they can cause. One can buy a good number of points for the cost of the electronic ignition systems. I have tractor that I have not changed the point in for over 10 years and they run just fine

I bought a unit for my 184 Cub this spring because it is such a pain to work on the points and could never get it to work. I talked to the company and followed all the bench testing they recommended which all passed but could not get it to work on the tractor. I gave up and put the points back.

(quoted from post at 16:33:28 05/16/18) you say tractor is negative ground system, so negative lead should go to coil and not positive

I think you mis-typed something. If it's a Negative Ground system and you connect Negative to the coil, there were be no current flowing to charge the coil and therefore there will be no spark.
The circuit must be complete to charge the coil, for example Postive at the coil on + terminal, Negative at - terminal, current then flows through points when closed or electronic ignition.

that was a good move original stuff is alays better cause you can get part quick. I have 4 dists and 6 mags and no problems some have been that way for many yrs since servicing them dont know why people always have problems with points must let them out in the weather

if you connected the battery pos. to pos on coil and no spark , u have a problem with the electonic module. sounds like you did the correct hookup i am thinking but you didnt say u have the negative on coil going to the points. pos. goes to battery for neg. ground.
i know for sure u will always get a tractor running with points . but if your stuck in the wilderness with that electric stuff and it fails your walking home.

I would bet bad module. I have converted many tractors to electronic ignition. I have found about a 25% failure rate of the modules. However when they work they great.

Do YOU know how (if possible) to check the MODULE ?
THANKS !
