Going to need to remove my radiator for repair. Any tips or tricks for removing the steering shaft that goes through the radiator?

Do I remove the shaft out the front after taking that big nut off? Any words of wisdom from the experienced would be appreciated.

Thanks for the advice guys! It's one repair after another around here, but the good advice I get from YT sure does make things easier.

This is on a 49 M. It looks like I can separate the shaft at the u-joint under the hood and then pull it out the front.

Don't lose the thick washer where the bolt goes through the coupler.

Yep take the steering loss at the U-joint and take the bug nut looking part off the front and the shaft just sort of unscrews out the front. The fun part is getting up under it and taking the bolts loss that hold it on
