What's the min hp required to make a good firm round bale with one of these balers. And a general opinion on them. Thanks

Since those are a rebadged New Idea baler they are not so much the HP as it is the guy running the baler. They are a soft center bale with a hard outer shell so if you are wanting a hard bale like a Vermeer or Deere not going to happen. They will still be in the 15-1800 weight though. Keeping the hay even across the bale is going to give you the most hay per bale with the best ,tightest bale. Speed will affect density some too. Heavy hay and going fast will make a softer bale. Going to slow will leave you with sticks for hay all the chaff will be in the field on the ground. Too Dry will not bale good either. The hay is added to the outside of the bale so running excessively with nothing going in will drop the chaff out on the ground also.
