Has anyone had any luck replacing the shock absorber on the seat with an automotive shock or is this a specialty item made only for these seats. If so where may I locate one.

Your Case/IH dealer can get you original
replacement. Last one I bought was a little
over $50.

Your Case/IH dealer can get you one. Will cost about $50. Be aware that when you order it, IH supplies the bare shock only. It will come with no rubber bushings or mounting bolts. You have to buy those separately.

Any NAPA store should be able to get one for you.

Jack ,I have two H's, one with the sping bolt and the other with a shock. I plan to replace the shock with something as close as I can find at the auto supply store, also a shock absorber off of a snowmoble ski may be a close match. Before all that I'll check at my I-H dealer, he still amazes me at what parts he can still get ....who knows? Good luck from Mike Soldan in Exeter Ontario
