I have a Farmall 140 that I just finished doing a refurbish on. The tractor is a very low hour 1968 model that has been sitting for the past 10 years more than it has been worked. It has always sat under cover and the hydraulics work great and strong with no leaks. Recently after I've gotten it painted and back together, the hydraulic control lever on the right side (sitting on the seat) is Stuck and will not move. So much so that I was jerking at it while the tractor was running and I actually bent the linkage rod that runs by the battery box!! I fixed that back and haven't investigated it yet. I presume the valve that the linkage rod hooks to is stuck for some reason. It actually did it once before when I was testing everything out, but I jerked at it and it worked great once I got it to move. The other hyd. lever actually works great.

Anyone ever run into this?? What could the problem be?? From the looks of the area, it might be hard to tell without removing the entire TC Unit and rockshafts under the gas tank.

The lever itself isn't stuck. Best I can remember it would be hard to get a channel lock down there near the valve at the other end of the linkage. It's down behind the starter. I can look next time I am around it. Just trying to get an idea of what is sticking and why it is doing it, so I can fix the Problem so it doesn't happen again.

Does the lever move if you disconnect the linkage and then you could try the control valve linkage with a channel lock. Control valve on my Super C only has one O ring.

It's not stiff, it is literally frozen solid. Kind of like it has something holding it down with pressure but once you get it to move it will work. once it sits a while, it freezes back up. I wonder what causes it to do that? Do you think the polished surface is dirty, has rust, or an O-ring could be broken inside causing that?? I have worked on many of these tractors and haven't had one do this so I'm just trying to figure out the cause.

You don't need to remove the unit just unhook the linkage put a wrench or something on the lever on the unit and move back and forth it should loosen up
