I am looking at buying a Super C. The tires are okay, but not great. All the sheet metal is straight, but rusty. It does not have 2 pt. hitch, just a drawbar. It has a new battery and voltage regulator, and runs well. The guy is selling it-it was his fathers and he has had it for the last two years but only used it to pull a small cart, but doesn't know much else about it. There is supposed to be culivators and a mid-mount blade for it, but they haven't been located yet. What is a fair price to pay for the tractor only? With the equipment? Thanks -(it's on the east coast if that makes a difference in the price)

I recently bought a 1953 Super C with a tube style trip bucket a one bottom plow and a junky old trailer to tow behind it for $1000. The tractor needs rear tires, the tread is great but they are all weather checked and one has a pretty good slash in it, the electrical system is non existant. There is a wire with an alligator clip for the coil power from the battery, but it does have a wide front end (it needs some work) and a great working 2 point hitch. The tractor had sat for well over a year outdoors so I checked all the fluids and drained the carb and the gas line with fresh stuff and started her up after I put a new coil on it on a zero degree day with very little effort. There is no smoke from the exhaust and it carries great oil pressure even after shes good and warm (that is the only guage that still works) I think I did pretty good myself, I've seen worse tractors go for more money. I saw a super C with no hitch or accessories but a fresh coat of brushed on paint go for $1800.

I bought this 53 Super C last fall for $1,200. Sounds to be much like the one you are looking at. Runs good, needs tires and has a leaking rear main seal.I thought I did ok but if you look at the price of tires I will have more in it then I see fully restored ones sell for sometimes. It also has the 2 point.I bought it to fix up and to play with so I was not thinking about making money anyway. If you could get it for less it just frees up more of your $ to spend on it.

Look real close at the rear of that engine there is a plug at the back for the end of the cam that can leak and make you believe it's the rear main.
No, I don't think your an idiot, I've seen this plug fool good mechanics. fwiw dave
