Nick,

To answer your question, I guess it depends on how much you are going to work it. It will be an expensive proposition to overhaul an MD, you will probably be in it for at least $2000-2500 +. If you can use it for a number of years - great. I wouldn't pay over $500 for it. I bought one complete for $310 with a single front wheel and aftermarket 3-pt, stuck for years. Like the guys said, you'll never be able to sell it for what you put in it, but I don't think that's what you're asking.

Jim

what I want to know is how good of a work horse is this tractor? I would not sell it for anything. I want another good work tractor. Is the MD good for that. or should I just find a regular M somewhere?

If you are thinking of fixing it and selling, you will never get your money out of it, even if you get it for free! If you have job for it to work, you might come out that way. I would say the max price for a non running MD with a stuck engine would be $500. If you are interested, I know where there is one also and am considering going to take a look. The one I know about is near Chattanooga, TN. I already have an MD that I restored. I have thousands in it and I have done nothing to the engine, except to fix up the stuff on the gasoline start system.

If the rear tires and rims are good offer him $500-$800 but, depends on how bad you want it. If the engine is stuck you can be spending some big bucks and a lot of time fixing it. Bob

I just bought a running 450 Diesel. It has a fair amount of blow-by, so eventually it will be overhauled. I will, by the time I'm done with it, have more in it than its worth. But I intend to keep this tractor, so I'm not to worried about that factor.

Nick, I bought a running MD several years ago for $900. I completely rebuilt it including overhauling the engine. You can easily put $1000 into the injector pump and injectors. More than $1000 into other engine parts. If you totally rebuild it like I did it can be an expensive proposition. You can never get out of it what you put into it depending on what shape it is in. As one MD owner told me - "I nearly broke the bank restoring that MD". Roger

You can't expect to get your money back out
of a tractor like that.If it was something
pretty rare it might be worth doing.
