MD injector question

I need some expert advice. On the outside of the injector Nozzle Body Retainer, their is a machined groove around it about mid way down. When I pulled our injectors out of the head, 2 of them had what looked like some sort of seal in this groove. 1 had some sort of orange o-ring that fit the whole groove and the last one had what looked like a regular black o-ring that didn't fill up the groove. Upon looking in the parts book, it doesn't call out for anything in this groove. Could someone set me straight as to what to use in this groove if anything? Thanks in advance.

Jeff there is supposed to be a rubber type O ring in the top groove of the injector and there should be a copper or some type of metal sealing ring on the end of the injector where it fits into the precup chamber. We got our seals and rings from our local IH dealer.
