Hello Mike K. My Dad and I have a 684 International. It is an excellent tractor. We used to use it to pull a round baler until recently. We also plow with it and pull a disk, as well as feeding round bales in the winter. Starts a little hard when its slightly cold. Usually requires choking and/or ether to get it going. This could be troublesom in the North. (We are in southcentral Texas) Also, it has occationally gotten stuck in one range (that is High, Low, or Reverse) This requires taking the cover off and using a screwdriver to pry it out of gear. I am not sure it would make a great loader tractor, as shifting between Reverse and High/Low is sometimes tough. This is assuming of course the tractor you're looking at is a gear and not a hydro model. Overall, our 684 is a good machine.
