Will a C200 engine from a 544 bolt up to a M rear without a hassle?

I guess it don't sound feasible. I have a good C200 engine and was hoping to find a M rear to mate it to.

Phil, I think it would be plenty doable, pretty sure you would just need the 560 parts I mentioned.

Well, I don't know. A C200 is essentially a C263,C291, or C301, minus 2 cylinders, from what I remember. Pete 23 would probably know, he knows pretty much everything about that older stuff. Anyway, how about a link to putting a C263 in an M? Everything should be the same on both ends of the engine I would think, except for the heavy cast oil pan on the C200. A 560 front cover would have the more appropriate looking front engine mounts. Now, I'm assuming you would just have to modify the rear engine plate of the M to fit on the C200. In searching around, it looks like you would use a 560 flywheel and pressure plate, with a Super M disc. And for a starter that works, it looks like if you used a Super M clutch housing with a 3 bolt starter hole and a 560 starter, that ***may*** work. I don't know if you'd have to use a rear plate off a 560, or modify the one off the M. The pictures above are some I found online. The M has a C301 with 706 I believe. And some pictures of the rear plates of a C200 from a 674 and a C248 from an M, and a C263 from a 560. Pay close attention to the inner plate to block mounting holes on all of them, and the outer plate to bellhousing bolt pattern on the stamped steel ones. I thinkk it would be a doable project, and an interesting one at that.

No they are very different engine series and would require machining, custom parts, and enginuity. Jim
