I'm going to be re-painting the tin badges on an early Farmall 656 - should the black "field" be gloss black or matte? is there an IH number? And, the lettering (both FARMALL and the 656 numbers) should be standard IH White?

I am not familiair with the 656 badge, but the old regular FARMALL front emblems look best with black gloss, my opinion. My wife repainted mine, and it looks just fine in gloss.

I like the gloss black, but it will reveal any little imperfections. Satin black hides some of those little dings, and still looks very good.
