hi guys, back to spark plugs again we got a "C" with autolite plugs(386) in it , was looking for plugs to fit tried the NGK AB6 plugs to big, looking for a plug to fit it must be a 18mm or it will not fit, the 386 plugs work but a little to big we got it out after some work any ideas.

I suspect that by "too big" he means the spark plug body's fit into the recess in the head. It is a tight fit, but...
Like others have said, the Autolite 386 is one of the correct plugs for that tractor. It is the exact same physical size as the original spark plugs that the tractor came equipped with. There are no plugs to fit that tractor with a smaller body.
You need a thin walled socket to install and remove the spark plugs on Farmall tractors from that era.

The 386 plug is right, (Or 3116) so if they don't fit right, something else is wrong, not the plug.

If plugs aren't seated completely, they will "leak" combustion gasses, and carbon will build up in the threads. It can also happen if you run too rich for too long. In any case, plugs can become almost impossible to take out.
3rd time is a charm: chase the threads.

Chase the threads in the head with a spark plug thread chasing tap. I have never encountered "tight" threads, or fat threads on on the plugs. Jim

If you have a NAPA or any good auto supply should be able to cross your to number of other plug that will work.
