I understand that cleanliness is super important with hydraulics. Last summer I worked on a friends H and thanks to the help provided here I was able to fix his transmission and get it back in service. I had to remove the liftall to work on the tractor and it didn't seem to be workable. He was happy to get the tractor running and didn't really need the hydro. I told him I would open it up this winter. Never done this before but I was surprised when i got it open. No oil just mouse nest.

Real issue is the check valve balls. Dirt and water got in and the balls are badly corroded, as are the seats. One ball and part of its spring are in picture 2. Manual talks about soldering a brass rod on a slightly larger ball and using it a drill and valve compound to try to clean up the seats...any better ideas?? Are pump housings available???

I think you would be less expensive finding one local versus shipping, let me know if you still need parts

The water got into the outputs of the pump and sat against the check valves rusting the balls and the seats that are part of the pump body. There isn't any rust damage beyond that. The pump gears are in reasonable shape as is the rest of the pump.

I have rebuilt several of these pumps. two ways to go. Rust is a real enemy, I think the parts in the picture are ruined. A large IH dealer will probably have the parts, but they will cost as much as the tractor. Someone on this web site will have a pump that can be rebuilt. I have never seen one that wasn't full of oil. I'm almost positive that the pump will not interchange with an M, but I have a rebuilt spare in the hayloft. Ellis
