The old M started on the second hit. Thanks to everybody who guided me on this project, it runs perfect. I tore the tractor down 100% and rebuilt it from scratch. Everything meets specs, no shortcuts. Bullgear replacement, every seal, total engine rebuild, belt pulley gearbox, governer, bolster, carb, waterpump, you name it, it was rebuilt. From start to finish, it took 1-1/2 years. The M was headed for salvage. Now it will be repainted and stored in a shed. Eventually I will post pictures. I just wanted to thank everybody who helped me. There is no way I could have rebuilt this without your help!

Congrats there Cheg. I would recommend you run it a couple of hours and change the oil and filter. Also re-torque the head bolts and readjust the valve clearances. I also repeated this process at around 30 hours.

Bravo!!

It's good that people like you are fix'in them up instead of parting them out. I had a 9N that I restored a few years ago. Back then, everyone told me I should part it out. Ha, fooled them!!!

Sounds like me - I fix up the parts tractors. Why? I don't know, I just have to do it.

Way to go Cheg. Your story is incouraging to me cause I have a B with about the same story. I has not run in at least 12 years and the owner couldn't remember how long it was before he bought it 12 years ago since it had been run.Spent all day yesterday at a salvage yard finding front end and steering parts. I'm sure it will be another year on mine. But your post reminds me I'm not the only knot head to tear into something like this. Think I'll have my wife read your post.....can't hurt.

Its good to hear there are others out there doing what I do. I also try and convince my wife that it is somewhat "normal" to fix junk tractors. I have 3 B's running and I'm pulling 2 more part tractors out of the grove- I'll get at least one more going.
