International 304 truck engine

I have a 63 loadstar 1600 cabover with a 304 v8 in it that is junk. i am looking for a good used one to replace it with.. i have found a few online out of scouts and pickups but want to find out more details before i make a purchase. are the bellhousing the same? will they bolt right up to a loadstar truck transmission or are they different? my truck has a 4 speed on column shift,and an electric 2 speed rear axle... I would just like to know what my options are and if any other engines will enterchange with this truck,trans combo? thanks in advance for any advice!

AFAIK, any IH 266, 304, 345, or 392 will bolt right up to your bellhousing.

Somewhere along the line, the timing gears were changed/updated and "improved cooling" came about with changes to the coolant flow between the waterpump and the heads.

All a NON issue, really, if swapping a complete engine into your (older) truck, IMHO.
