Farmall M shifter re-weld dimensions

I need to re-weld the end of the shifter on my Farmall M.

Can anyone advise on what the recommended dimensions should be? I've done some searching and can only find what they are for an H.

Thanks!

I think they are the same. but making it .010" bigger in thickness then fitting it as needed to be easy to shift, would be my method. Replace the pivot pin for sure A grade * bolt makes a very good substitution. Grease it up in the tower because oil really does not get that high. Jim

Our local welder / blacksmith knows the dimensions, he repairs so many. You might just ask your local guy, he may know.

Just put one bead, on the on the .75 side, see if it fits, if you cant get the cross bolt in, you have to grind a little of the bottom, with trial and error, after you get the cross bolt in, try the neutral slot if it feels right, then try your 2nd and 3rd slot and that should fit the rails too.

While you are at it you just as well take the trans.cover off and build up the slots in the shifting forks. Makes for a near factory setup then. I have done this many times and it works good.
