This is a 1940 H really don't look bad considering
where I found it. What would or is the best way to determine a stuck engine, engage the hand crank? I know I haven't given to many specifics but what is a ballpark if I can't get it free?

Is that the one that you can see from 26 down next to the 221 bridge, kinda between there and the Hwy 50 exit, closer to 221 on the frontage road?If so it aint stuck.Ive looked at it before and it wasnt stuck then but that was about a year ago.If I recall right, the sheetmetat was in good shape.but the gas tank was shot, didnt have a cap and was rusted through in on spot.I offered the gut 50 for it but he wouldnt take it.Said he could sell it for scrap for more than that.My brother says its still there.

Nope John this is another one, but why don't we pool our info and haul both of these neglected gils off and give them a new or rebuilt home.

Lookin after the bridge now!

Correction on the locale, its between Rd 50 and Hwy 92.IF your heading towrd Columbia look on the right about 1/2 mile pass Rd 50.Youll see what looks like a W-9.This is kinda off the road a little bit and you have to look quick or youll miss it!(I came by there a little bit ago but I didnt see the H.Oh,there a guy in ORebuck that has a W-6 for sale, have you seen it.Its about a 1/4 mile past Griffin gear.He wants way too much for it,like 4500.Its not even painted and the engine smokes like a freight train and the tranny is not far from needing a major overhaul. But you know how some folks around here can be!Hey did you ever get some hood pins?Shoot me an email

jiM you can find running, albeit in rough condition, Hs in central Indiana for $500. I would try to take it off their hands but sure wouldn't offer much for it.

If it's got a crank, and the crank mechanism itself is not stuck, engaging the handcrank is a good way to determine whether the motor's stuck. An alternative is to remove the starter (3 bolts). Then with the transmission in neutral, take a big screwdriver, engage the ring gear and try to turn the flywheel.

Ballpark price?? Try to get it for free of course!. But if you can't, here in western NY a fair price might range from $100 or so (value of the scrap metal) to $400 or $500, depending on condition of the tin, tires, electrics, presence of accessories like hydraulics, weights, etc.

$500 or less even if the engine is free, There is a reason it was left parked in that location.

Summer of 1962 I spent on the seat of a H in Western N.Y. making hay on a 200 acre dairy farm. This was a 1940 model and it was magneto ignition. No starter. Had to park it on a hill.
These tractors spent their lives outside and were like Gravelys. Simple and great mowing machines
