A comrade recently acquired a fast-hitch three bottom plow along with an IH loader mounted on a Farmall 560 and cultivators to boot; unknown it they are complete though. My ? on his behalf: what model IH plow does he have that is three - sixteen and slatted. He has been unable to find numbers and peeking at the literature Farmallhal sent me, I'm still stumped. Thanks in advance.

Without seeing pictures it's hard to say, could be a 311, 312, or maybe an earlier model. Here is a picture of one of my 311s and it just happens to be a slat bottom. I don't have a pic of my 312 but it would look like the 512 in the last picture only with 2 less bottoms. The 311 was fully mounted and the 312 was a semi-mount. The 309/309A are 3pt mounted and were made for the 504. I have a 309A but no pic of it currently.

Not trying to be critical, but that no.4 bottom is differant as you know, the number on the moleboard is on the back , stamped in the steel, of the moleboard ,maybe you just have a X instead of a H, or viseversa or else it is sprung but doubt that with trip bottoms.

I agree with the 312. I had a 412 and it was a all right plow. Good as anything from that time frame.

Probably 312 slotted bottoms doesent change model# as several bottom types were available

Most likely it is a model 312 plow but could be a 309 or 311. To my knowledge the 309 would be the lightest duty plow. The bottoms could have been plow chief or super chief with slat bottoms.
