I have a Farmall H that is plumed to a loader with one way cylinders using to front port on the left and right and a one way using the back port on left for a hose out back for equipment. . Today I tried to plum my M run a two way cylinder as a one way by venting one port in the cylinder. I am using the one port on the right side of my M and it acts like it is blocked. It worked a little the first time I moved the lever and then stopped and not won't move the cylinder and yet there seems to be pressure on the hose going to the cylinder. Never tried to use the hyd on this M until today, but something is not right. Should I use the left port for one way if that is all I am using the Hyd for? The cyliner is free and when the hyd is in neutral position I can push the cylinder closed. So, not the cylinder or hyd connectors.

It does have enough oil in it, right?

If using a cylinder as one way and the other end vented with vent in cylinder or a return hose to top or bottom of liftall, not to the sides all three openings should have pressure. In neutral position of lever you shouldn't be able to retract cylinder. with lever pushed forward yes it should retract if loaded or pushed in. If cylinder will retract hooked to side port with one hose the passage isn't stopped up. Does the engine labor when lever pulled back when trying to pressure cylinder? All side ports get pressure with lever pulled back but return back through passages is controlled by two different ball seats. Front left and the right are common for lowering and left rear has a different ball seat for lowering or releasing pressure back into reservoir. First ports open first when lever is pushed forward and left rear when pushed full forward. But in most you can't feel when one releases before the other. For a delay lift on the left rear port a delay lift valve was added in line to cylinder. If I understand how you describe things and engine will labor at low speed when lever is pulled back you could try the left rear port, Can't remember if the ball check will partly block a passage if it's spring is broken. Have to look to refresh memory. But if cylinder returns in neutral position that would point to spring broke or ball seat not sealing.

All the ports are internally connected. The left rear port is a delay port for rear equipment applications and should be avoided. The only way to make it work is to put directional valves on the fittings to the cylinders and connect them to the loader from both valves when using the loader, and to the rear cylinder from one valve when using it. there is no real way to use them both at once as is. Hi Jim, so if I only want a one-way connection for a one-way cylinder , which port should I use? No Loader on the M, that is on the H. I only want a one way connection for my M.

Front ports (either one because they are connected with a "T" on the inside) are usual connection points. The cylinder needs to have a spring or gravity load to pull it back from the extended position. Jim
