Farmall M, 15.5 or 13.6 ?

I am going to use it for a light duty loader tractor, has an IH #33A loader on it. It will also be pulling a 6 ft mower across pasture. What tire size would be the best choice? I imagine will be running over wet grassy fields a lot. It has a wide front end on it. I found some Massey Harris 44 pressed steel 9 bolt rears with hubs that will fit it, but the tires look skinny, like 11", even though the hubs will fit the M. Also found some anonymous 9 bolt pressed steel with 15.5 tires on it, just missing hubs, which I could buy once again some MH 44 hubs, or find some M&W hubs.

!5.5 SHOULD be mounted on a 14" wide rim. 13.6 can go on an 11" rim. 14.9 will also work on the 11" rim, but is better on a 12".

Thanks for the opinion. Yeah I think it may work too, just have to get some wheel weight on there as I hear that the pressed steel is much lighter than the IH cast centers.

Were you missing the keys? I thought the MH 44 hubs would go right onto am M axle, and that the key was part of the hub.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, every M/SM/SM-TA I've seen has had 12-38/13.6x38's. The last 10-15 years
or so you see show tractors or pullers with big tires.

Mine has 14.9 x 38 on it. I think they look good.

I run 14.9x38 on my M and 16.9 on a 560 but I have 12.4 on my cultivating tractors , I pick tires that work for the use , that said I would use 18.4x 34" on a loader- bushhogg mower type application as they will hold more fluid for ballast and be more balloon like for a better ride mowing.

In this case, I would go for whatever is the better deal. If its somehow an equally priced deal, I would go for 15.5

I bet those are the old size (maybe 12 which is 13.6), my 44 had 13x38 on it, replaced with the new size 14.9x38.

My H has 12.4 on it, will replace them with 13.6 so I get a higher road gear and when tedding 3rd is too slow now and 4th to fast, so will use 3rd then. I will also up the HP on it when I overhaul it with domed pistons.
