Recently acquired a "red" tractor. I was told it was a 504 Utility, okay, perfect. Went to look at it and , yes it was red and white, BUT it has a shuttle shift. Tried to search for info but not had much luck. There are no reverse gears in the tranny, just the shuttle. S/N is 3226 J W. Can Someone help me a little? Also, it starts and runs great ....for about 15 minutes then acts like it,s out of gas, low idle will run, but anything more requires choke, I deas?

Thanks for the help. Did manage to find the trouble. Found what looked like wood fibers in the sediment bowl inlet in the tank. ZGood flow now.

Hi, since it has a shuttle shift, it would appear to be the industrial model 2504. Parts diagrams at caseih.com parts: http://partstore.caseih.com/us/parts-search.html#epc::mr55172ag53183 Google photos of IH 2504 and see if any photo matches. JimB

Go Figure, the tank is full. Is there a screen in the sediment bowl?

There should be a screen. Easy way to check is to close the shutoff, remove the sediment bowl, then turn the gas back on. Should be a solid stream, if all you see is a drip then you know where the problem is. If you get a steady stream there, move on to the carburetor inlet (you should find another screen there).

Sounds like a restriction in the fuel line. Probably flakes of varnished gas or other junk in the tank blocking the outlet into the strainer.

Allis Chalmers ED40 - by Anthony West. Allis Chalmers as a tractor manufacturer in its own riht is but a memory. However the number of AC tractors still in existence today as either restored or unrestored examples is a testament to the quality of their products. This in itself is always apparent here in the U.K when attempting a purchase, as no matter what the model or condition the price will always be strong.
