Have to change out the head on my 1950 td-14 can I reuse the old one as there are none out there. Thanks

Never good to reuse a head gasket but I have done so. If it is an all metal one you can put it in the oven at 500 degrees and heat it up which helps expand it. put it in then turn the oven on let it get up to 500 then turn the oven off and let it cool in the oven. Then use a number of coats of aluminum paint on the head and block. Id did that on the BA I built and it has been just fine for years now

Have you checked with FP Smith or Bates Corp for a head gasket? I would be reluctant to reuse the head gasket for that diesel engine. Does your engine still use the fire rings on top of the sleeves? Those fire rings are critical and if they don't seal properly, it will cause you more problems down the road.

that all depends on what the gasket looks like. how can we say yes or no. if it is in good shape and not damaged, then it is quite possible it can be used, but is not the normal thing to do. i use permatex high tack sealer on them. that engine should have the fire rings separate from the gasket like the TD18 does. same engine just 2 less cyl's. same bore as the WD40 tractors also. there is gaskets out there just to find one.

Thanks to everybody who replied to my problem with td14. I should be able get something going. Anola
