There is an Indiana F-20 on ebay that is fitted with 8 rear steel wheels. What was this tractor used for? Click below for listing.

Guess I have been looking at the snow too long. My first thought was a snow roller for sleigh travel.
Second thougths agree with the golf links theory. IH made the Fairway model, which had really wide steel for that purpose.

Golf course tractor. Pulled a gang of reel mowers and even on damp mornings never dug in the fairways and was always smoothing the lay for the linksters. Dick Davis

I would bet they are rollers. I've seen people use them in my part of the country to roll meadows to help level them out in the spring from all the freezing in the winter. I have seen them on H's and C's. You just deflate the tires and put these rollers on and inflate the tires to hold them on. They also have them for the front wheels.

Dollars to donut holes, it was used on a sod farm for rolling sod. Saw a couple of John Deeres set up that way somewheres.

Paul that makes sense. The Plymouth Indiana area has a good soil for sod growing.

Can't agree with one of the posts "float on water" Doesn't everyone on this site already know that all Farmals ca walk on water? I saw that picture also and my first question was whether or not it had any wheels on the other side.
