working on a 48 c with the early carter UT aluminum upper carb. i need a needle and sea for the float. the metal tag is long gone. the only kits i can find are for the cast iron top carter, i think they are the ut733s or ut734s. will the needle and seat from the old carb be the same as the cast iron carter?

I happen to have real good luck with the Carter carbs! The last kit I bought came from Dales Mag and Carb out of Michigan. Real nice guy! Fair price too! They like to be clean! And I had a friend open up the Venturi a little and that helped with the richness problem.
I have also bought kits from Stieners.

Bought a 53 Super C 20 years ago, dealer overhauled the Carter carb. before I got it, was always rich and dripped now and then. I finally put another kit in it and didn't fix a thing, might set for 2 months, then drip. Ran good but would foul plugs a couple times a year, finally seen enough and put a new Zenith on it, problem solved. Got a bad habit of saving junk and found the dealer installed parts out of the carb, very little use, cast iron top carb, if they look close I'll mail them to you.

I had problems with mine leaking too. I polished it by using an electric drill & toothpaste. That was at least 10 years ago & it still holds but I shut the gas off when not in use.

I had one on my Super C when I got it. I messed with it for a year and finally threw it in the trash and got a Zenith. Smartest thing I ever did. JMO.
