Ford backhoe no forward-any ideas where to start?

I have a 69 5500 Ford backhoe with a 6 speed shuttle shift that will not move forward, only moves in reverse any ideas how to start finding where the issue is? Or how to eliminate where the problem is not? Thank you

Does it drive when in neutral? Some times one clutch will pack up and jam the opposite direction. Will it roll freely when in neutral?

Make sure your shift linkage isn't worn out, stiff,
or damaged, and is well lubricated and that it's
throwing the control lever all the way to the
'forward' position. Next, change the trans filter
and oil. carefully cut the can off the filter (if
spin-on) and look for pieces of clutch disc lining,
or seal material.

For Bob/Ont~~rols free in neutral. For Fritz Maurer~~Shift linkage seems okay but I will disconnect it from the trans and see if it'll work manually from the trans,I'll do the filter next week if the former doesn't work.
