TD-14 Starting Problem

My TD-14 will not start on gas until I turn the engine over a couple of times in diesel mode. What is wrong?

Your should check the boterfly in intake manifold

Gemdozer is got you going the right way.. Something in the switch over valve not getting right. After it does start does it run good or sputter around ?

After going through these gyrations, it runs fine which made me think that the decompression valves were O.K.
