201 powered Ford 555 TLB

I need some help on my recent purchase. "Please"!
I posted this on the Ford forum yesterday, and did not get one reply.
Hi all
I am thinking the injection pump on my 1979 Ford 555 TLB is set too far advanced. Or, is it a bad injector?
It is the 201 engine with the CAV injection pump.
It runs smooth enough at an idle, but as soon as I try to speed up, it seems to have power loss and a lot of vibration. The machine is well worn (lots of hours), but I'm concerned that this vibration may cause more trouble! (PO just changed flex plate)
It looks like the timing is set slightly to the left of "0" on the pump markings. Is that advanced? (C-C from 0)
The PO mentioned he had the pump re-built.
I have re-adjusted the valves already, they were at least 20-30 thou.
I'm hoping to keep it running for quite a while, before I have to do major engine work.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Brian

Kudoos to Ultradog on the Ford forum, he told me to crack the injectors open at governor speed - #3 cylinder cuts out at high RPM, I plan to remove all injectors tonight, if I can get them repaired tomorrow.
This is a great site!
Again
Thanks all!
Brian
PS I may even find time for a picture!

Darn!
The injectors are popping correctly @2800 PSI.
I must have a bad cylinder/valve on #3.
I need a compression gauge to trouble shoot further.
It looks like I'll pull the head as soon as it gets a bit warmer.

I also found a deal on a three legged Ford 4000, just need to see if the engine is any good next week!
Wish me luck!

You found that out fast! I would still switch them and put them back in and run it, and see if the problem moves with the injector or not.
Someone may be able to tell us differently, but just because an injector opens at the right pressure with a hand pump, doesn't prove to me that it can open and close completely however many times per second it has to at high engine speed.

In my humble opinion you are right.
I re-installed the injectors tonight and it did run somewhat smoother.
I switched the injectors so #3 was located in #1, #2 is now in #3.
I am hoping that Ford 4000 my friend found for me has a decent engine, if so I'll switch it later on this year.

I added a bottle of Reslone to the oil and injector cleaner to the fuel yesterday, and today it is running much like you would expect from an old machine.
It is running much smoother and the vibration is very much improved.
I'll change the oil when I get the hawthorns cleaned up and give her a much needed grease job!
I posted pictures of it on the Ford forum.
