Case 580 Construction King 33 Backhoe...Does size matter?

The original hydraulic hoses to and from the 33 hoe control valve assembly have been replaced with aftermarket ones that I need to replace. One is a 3/4 inch and the other is a 1 inch. I can not determine what is supposed to be used. Case says NLA so I have to get them made and the local dealer makes up to 3/4 inch but is not able to find a reference for the correct size. Since one was a 3/4 and the hoe worked, I am guessing I could get those and be okay......but I am challenged when it comes to hydraulics..... Flow restriction supply and return size for that valve is info I have not seen yet.?

Does ANY restriction in the system of 3/4 inch mean that hoses can be that size and not affect use? The flow passes through at least one 3/4 fitting at the 4 way headed back to the hoe.... Does anyone know what was/is correct for proper flow? Those local made 3/4 inch ones would be handy but I will get bigger if the system requires.....
Thanks

I have a 530ck with a 33 backhoe and I believe those hoses on mine are 1".
You can check www.casece.com

You may have to play with typing in the model, that site is a little contrary. Ir you type in 580ck or 530ck for the model it should let you in. Then you can navigate trough all the parts and will even give you diagrams and sometimes part numbers.

Hope that helps

A lot of times the fitting size is only made for one size of hose. Not always though. The line into a control valve is often bigger to get the most flow. Can you figure out which way the oil is flowing? Dave

Take the hose off, and take it to your nearest Colliflower hydraulic shop, if they can't find the fittings to fix you up, I'd be surprised.

3/4" ID is the minimum hose to use. The 33 hoe and 580CK have the same GPM pump as many other hoes (Deere, IH, Ford, etc. ). 23-28 GPM. 3/4" is the minimum to freely pass 28 GPM. Some came with 3/4" on the pressure side and 1" on the return. Usually the limiting factor is either the fittings (with 3/4" ID) or the quick couplers. My 33 hoe has S25 8P quick coulpers (1" ID).

Main thing is, if you run your hoe at full throttle, the pump has to push 28 gallons per minute. A 3/4" ID hose with some bends in it can restrict it a little, but not by much. That's why 1" is sometimes used. But - how often do you run at full throttle? I know with mine, I do it sometimes with the front loader, but not the hoe.

My 33 hoe originally had 1" ID hoses. My Deere with the same pump has 3/4" ID on the pressure side and 1" on the return.

So, I'm not sure if I answered your question or not. But 3/4" is adequate, and 1" is better but a bit overkill.

Thanks for the information. The backhoe will get along fine with 3/4 inch it sounds like. Full throttle is pretty infrequent in my use. The quick coupler sizing is good to know as part of the hose replacement plan is to add quick couplers since mine did not have them. Appreciate the help!
