Lights go out?

I posted a message and it's even in the archives under the same heading but doesn't show up on the regular forum. Don't know why? Anyway, what would cause the lights on my skid steer to make it loose the power for all electrical accessories. I put a new ground wire on because sometimes the starter wouldn't work. The lights work for a while then go out. If I turn the switch off for a minute or so, I get power back and the lights will work for a while, then do the same thing. When I don't use the lights, the power never goes out. I can tell because the fuel gauge stays up. There is another ground cable on the engine that goes to the frame. Any other ideas what would cause this? Thanks Dave

Now I see my first post is on there. Not sure what's going on. Maybe the light problem has transferred to my head? LoL Dave

YOU DIDN'T SAY WHAT BRAND YOUR SKID STEER IS, BUT IF THE ENGINE IS RUBBER MOUNTED,THERE SHOULD BE A GROUND FROM THE ENGINE TO THE FRAME SOMEWHERE. IF YOU CAN'T FIND ONE YOU CAN ADD ONE AND SEE IF THAT HELPS.

There is proable a circuit breaker in the electrical system somewhere. It will trip and then reset itself after a while. There is an overload somewhere in the light system. Proable a frayed wire that is grounding out.

There is a circuit breaker for the starter and I think the lights have a fuse. The lights worked today for almost half an hour before going out and worked again about a minute later. I said in my post that there is a ground from the engine frame to the main frame and yes the engine is rubber mounted. Not that it really matters but it is a Thomas T133 with a V1902B Kubota engine. I'll have to check some more of the wiring. Thanks for the ideas. It's frustrating when you don't know if your lights are going to stay on or not. Dave
