What can you tell me about a Case 310 bulldozer

1958 model, less than 1000 origional hours, for $4000. Are these good machines? What kind of power, size, features? Anything to look for? Good deal or steer clear? Mainly just want for some light brush clearing, dirtwork, and to maintain land. Any opinions welcome.

Go to caseterratraccrawlers site..lots of 310s there.

Maybe it's a 310F,but not sure.Small, manual gearbox with diff type steering.Check that it steers OK.Check that final drives are OK & have good oil in housings.
They were forerunner of the 350.
I have spares in Australia.

I wouldn't believe the less than 1000 hours story. The machine is 50 years old! Not a lot of power and some parts may be hard to find. Dave

Case 310 is a great little dozer . Plenty of power , parts are readily available and in the crawler world reasonable. I doubt the 1000 hours hour meters are not speedometers they are for service records and turn over without record. A fifty year old machine with less then a 1000 hours should be like new and for $4000. you didn't need to write into this forum. It is a 3 ton machine with 42 hp and has planetary steer, you can't turn as tight but have power to both tracks all the time. I have new and used parts for that machine email for my contact info.

It's got basically the same transaxle as the Cletrac HGs and OC3s, Cletrac General and Avery BF, and Bombardier crawlers. The planetary steer rear axle is made by Clark.

The engine puts out 33 PTO horsepower. The crawler puts out 26 drawbar horsepower.

Contrary to popular belief - it does NOT give power to both tracks in certain conditions. It is just a brake controlled differential - and - you can get in a situation where - if one track loses all it's traction - it won't turn. Jack one track up in air sometime and see.

Great little crawler. Up side of the Clark transaxle is no steering clutches to ever get stuck. Down side is - if you put in modern EP oil the brakes will slip, and . . . you can lose power to one track in certain conditions . . . and - if you run it on steep hills not having a foot brake can make it hard to run at times. You have to pull on both steering levers to stop - and that's can be hard to do when you're tring to shift gears and direction on a hill.
